Kiek in de Kook

Founded in 2023 and based in East Sussex, Kiek in de Kook is run by husband and wife duo Herman and Alwynne. Meaning “a peek in the kitchen,” the name reflects their approach: open, generous cooking inspired by the dishes they love to share with friends and family.

Their menus are shaped by travels to more than 50 countries, immersing themselves in cultures where food is a universal language. At the heart of everything is a simple belief that connection happens around the table, through stories, smiles and something cooked from scratch.

With two decades in the global drinks industry between them, they bring warmth and energy to every pop up. Herman leads on food, drawing on his background in baking, including training with a Michelin starred chef and time at Little Bread Pedlar, with a particular love of fermentation and layered flavour.
